Mike Caro
US poker legend Mike Caro, the 'Mad Genius of poker' will speak at Trinity College, Dublin and play in Paddy Power Poker Irish Open 2006.
Mike Caro, the world's foremost authority on poker strategy, psychology, and statistics is making a rare visit outside of his native US to play in the Paddy Power Poker Irish Open 2006.
The noted 'mad genius of poker' will also give a lecture at the Graduates Memorial Building (GMB), Trinity College, Dublin on Thursday 13th April at 5.30pm. This will be followed by a Question & Answer session and a book signing.
Caro is a respected gambling authority, oddsmaker on current events and politics, and author of seven books.
His book Mike Caro's Book of Tells-The Body Language of Poker is one of the most widely quoted books in the history of poker and his research and theories are noted in at least 40 gaming books other than his own.
Paddy Power, spokesman for the Irish bookmaker said, "We're wildly thrilled to have such a legend come in play in the Irish Open. With Caro's ability to read people he’s sure to put the fear into anyone who sits down at his table."
He is also founder of the Mike Caro University of Poker, Gaming, and Life Strategy as well as being a highly regarded poker professional. Twice world champion Doyle Brunson describes him as "the finest draw player alive."
Caro plays in the 3,200 euro buy-in Paddy Power Poker Irish Open 2006 in Jurys Ballsbridge Hotel from April 14-17th.
The Irish Open, celebrating its 25th birthday this year, is Europe's oldest poker tournament. It has a 1 million euro guaranteed prize pool, 50,000 euro added and the final table will be broadcast live across Europe on April 17 on Sky Sports 2 at 9pm.
