Hoa Mahn Nguyen

Do you know Hoa Mahn Nguyen?

If you do he's got a free ticket to the Paddy Power Poker Irish Open, which happens to be Europe's largest and most historic no limit hold'em tournament!

Hoa Mahn Nguyen was the 'bubble' at the WSOP in Las Vegas and hence has a ticket to the Irish Open courtesy of Paddy Power! The problem is Paddy Power cannot find him!

Email us to get Hoa Mahn to Dublin over Easter weekend for the Irish Open 2007. His package includes a ticket into the main event, flights and accommodation.

This year's event, which will be filmed for TV, is the biggest in Europe with a €2 million guaranteed prize pool and a capacity for 800 players paying €3,300 (+€200 reg) to play over Easter Weekend 2007 against the best players in the world.

What sets the Irish Open apart from other poker tournaments is its historic legacy, unique atmosphere, famous Irish hospitality, and legendary reputation for camaraderie and 'craic'.

Last year, Dubliner Vincent Melinn won the €350,000 first prize in only his second ever live tournament and the final table was broadcast live across Europe - a world's first.

Backgammon a Game of Constant Action

This article is designed for all poker players who would like to learn about the exciting game of Backgammon.

Some of our greatest poker players are also great backgammon players. Gus Hansen is likely one of the five best players in the world and could be the best. Other poker luminaries that are backgammon stars include Erik Seidel, Dan Harrington, and "X-22" Paul Magriel.

There was even one World Poker Tour final table that included Gus Hansen, Abe Mosseri and Tino Lechich who are all backgammon players.

Even poker's infamous hooded wonder Phil "The Unabomber" Laak has been known to partake in a game of backgammon or two.

European Poker Tour Betting

Paddy Power today launched 'outright betting' and 'to make final table' markets for the European Poker Tour's fourth outing of the 2006/7 season in Dublin. The Irish bookie is pricing up markets for each stop of the European Poker Tour, which includes stopovers in London, Dublin, Copenhagen, Baden, Deauville and Monte Carlo. The Dublin EPT event, held in the Regency Hotel from 26-29 October 2006, is one of the most popular on the tour, selling out last year and increasing its capacity to 500 this year.

Paddy Power, head of communications for the bookmakers said, 'We lost our shirts at the last big Dublin tournament, the Irish Open, and while we are hoping to make a few euro this time around we'd love to see an Irish player win this. If one does, the pints of Guinness will be on him!'

To make the final table of eight Paddy Power is offering:
Gus Hansen 8-1
Roy 'The Boy' Brindley 12-1
Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliot 10-1
Joe Hachem 16-1
Mats Gavatin 16-1
Donnacha O'Dea 16-1
Tony Cascarino 25-1
Isabelle Mercier 33-1

Last year's winner, Mats Gavatin, took down the first prize of €317,000. Other notable names who made the final table in Dublin last year include Michael Greco and David 'Dpommo' Pomroy.

Paddy Power will announce further markets for the Dublin EPT, including match bets, group betting, and female to make the final table over the coming days. Other prices are available on request.

Jamie Gold Drama Continues

The drama behind Jamie Gold's $12 million victory at the WSOP continues as a new injunction may now hold up half of the champ's winnings.

Richard Schonfeld, the attorney for Bruce Crispin Leyser, said that Judge Roger L Hunt is expected to sign the injunction soon. The injunction would freeze half of the $12 million and open up half of the funds for Gold to claim.

Gold has acknowledged Leyser's help in recent interviews, and it appears the issue is not whether Leyser should get a cut - the issue is how much that percentage should be. Leyser claims that he and Gold entered into an agreement that whatever monies won by Gold during his play of the Main Event would be split between the two. Leyser also claims he can back this up in the form of a saved cell phone message on the day of the final table, in which Gold allegedly pledges to hold up his end of the fifty-fifty split.

Will Gold take the $6 million and walk away or will he keep fighting for the rest of the money? One thing is for sure, the lawyers will make a bundle!

Irish Poker Open Betting

Paddy Poker Poker today announced details of betting on the Irish Open 2007.

The €2 million guaranteed Irish Open 2007 is likely to prove Paddy Power's most successful poker betting event ever.

The Outright Winner market is the first of many markets on which punters can back themselves, a friend or whoever they fancy. Other markets over the coming months will include To Make Final Table, Group Betting, Match Betting, Female To Make Finale Table, Age Of Winner, Nationality Of Winner and many more.

Paddy Power, spokesman for the Irish bookmaker, said, "We paid out €47,000 to the winner Vincent Melinn last year who had €250 each way on himself at 150-1 and he gave most of it away to another player. I wish he'd given some back to us! Regardless, we'll have more markets, more value and more fun this year than at any poker tournament in history and I'll lay you odds-on on that."

The early market, which can be found at Paddy Power, includes:

Mel Judah 80 - 1
Ram Vaswani 80 - 1
Dave Colclough 100 - 1
Barny Boatman 100 - 1
Padraig Parkinson 100 - 1
Ross Boatman 100 - 1
Joe Beevers 100 - 1
Roy Brindley 100 - 1
Andy Black 100 - 1
Donnacha O'Dea 125 - 1
Noel Furlong 150 - 1
Vincent Melinn 200 - 1

Each way odds 1 / 5 places 6 - odds correct going to press

The players can now qualify for the Irish Open in one of three ways:
1. Win a Grand Final seat daily at 2 pm & 10 pm - buy-in $12 + $0.60 (rebuy)
2. Buy in directly to a Grand Final for $198 + $9.90 every Sunday at 9 p.m. (rebuy)
3. Win one of our $1 (10c registration fee) Shootout Tournaments on the 1st Monday of every month at 8pm.

Live satellites in card clubs and casinos around the world will be announced in the coming months.

This year's event, which will be filmed for TV, is the biggest in Europe with a €2 million guaranteed prize pool and a capacity for 800 players paying €3,300 (+€200 reg) to play over Easter Weekend 2007 against the best players in the world.
