How many players at the World Series of Poker 2007
Paddy Power Poker announced details of betting on the WSOP 2007 main event. The first markets to go live are 'number of entrants' and 'to make final table'.
Since the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 was passed in the US earlier this year speculation on how it will affect numbers at this year's WSOP has been frenzied.
Many poker companies have pulled out of the US market and with over half the 2006 main event field believed to have been online qualifiers this could have a drastic impact on the field.
WSOP owners Harrah's are not accepting third party registrations in 2007 and it is widely felt that the record 8,773 players who battled it out for a prize pool of over $87 million last year may not be bettered in 2007.
The odds offered on the official number of players in the WSOP main event 2007 are:
Number of players / Odds
Under 2000 / 20 - 1
2000-2499 / 25 - 1
2500-2999 / 18 - 1
3000-3499 / 10 - 1
3500-3999 / 11 - 2
4000-4499 / 9 - 2
4500-4999 / 9 - 2
5000-5499 / 6 - 1
5500-5999 / 8 - 1
6000-6499 / 14 - 1
6500-6999 / 18 - 1
7000-7499 / 22 - 1
7500-7999 / 25 - 1
8000-8499 / 28 - 1
8500-8999 / 33 - 1
9000+ / 11 - 1
Next year's WSOP kicks of on June 1, 2007 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, with the final table of the $10,000 buy-in No Limit Texas Hold'em World Championship beginning July 17.
In 2006
Paddy Power Poker was the only bookmaker to bet 'in running' on the final table and expects to offer a plethora of betting markets for the 2007 event including 'group betting', 'match betting', 'female to make finale table', 'top European', 'age of winner', 'nationality of winner' and many more.
Betting markets can be found by visiting
Paddy Power Poker and clicking on 'Poker' in the menu on the left of the screen.

James Giordano
A massive billion-dollar-a-year gambling ring, that rivaled casino sports books, was busted in New York.
The ring of over 2,000 bookies was run by poker player, James Giordano who won a Texas Hold'em tournament at the Bellagio worth nearly $100,000 earlier this year.
James Giordano left his laptop computer in a Long Island hotel room for three hours during which time FBI spooks hacked into it and took all of the data. Apparently the laptop contained information of the entire operation.
He was arrested early Wednesday in his fortress-like Florida compound. Also seized was original artwork by Peter Max and Salvador Dali, four Manhattan condominiums, millions of dollars in cash, tens of thousands of dollars worth of casino chips from the Bellagio casino in Las Vegas, jewelry, gold coins, and a football signed by the 1969 New York Jets following their Super Bowl victory.

World Strip Poker Champion Lays Down 007 Challenge
English journalist and World Strip Poker Champion Jon Young today throws down a daring strip poker challenge to new James Bond star Daniel Craig.
Young is offering to play Craig in a game of high stakes poker for his World Strip Poker Champion crown anytime, any place, anywhere the suave spook wishes.
"There is no higher stakes in poker than the shirt of a man's back." mused Young. "Bond rates himself as a bit of a shark at the poker table but I want to prove it's all posturing and that underneath that glacially cool exterior lies a big scared-y cat who'll crap himself at the first sight of a real poker player. It's just a shame 007 isn't a woman."
In the new Bond movie Casino Royale, which premiere's at Odeon Leicester Square in London on November 14, 2006, Bond plays a game of high-stakes no limit Texas Hold'em in Monte Carlo with the dastardly villain Le Chiffre.
Young, who hones his poker skills on
Paddy Power Poker, became the world's first Strip Poker Champion in London in August this year, beating 195 other hopefuls for the coveted title in the largest strip poker tournament the world has ever seen.
The budding Bond-beater wants to test his mettle against some of the coolest men on the planet.
"I'm so confident I can outplay these shadowy super-spies I'll let Connery, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan and Lazenby into the game too. I mean, c'mon, with such a bunch of lady-killers sat around one table gambling for such impressively high stakes the ladies are gonna be shaken and stirred. Especially the Bond girls the boys will no doubt bring along for the post-game party."
"Craig can get Miss Moneypenny to give me a call on the secure phone to arrange a time and place for the game. I hope it's in a giant secret volcano or a shimmering underwater lair but if he wants to come round to my house that'll be fine too as long as the girlfriend doesn't mind."
"I've even started working on my killer lines: Do you expect me to raise? No, Mr Bond I expect you to fold!", and "Will the Diamonds be Forever? I don't think so Mr.Bond!".
