Battle of the Poker Mags
Paddy Power Poker today announced the official launch of Battle of the Mags, a groundbreaking series of tournaments designed to find the UK poker magazine with the most talented reader. The eventual champion will go on to represent their magazine at four major tournaments on the European circuit.
From July to September, eight top poker magazines will offer their readers a chance to play in an exclusive online $5,000 No Limit Hold'em freeroll tournament on Paddy Power Poker to determine their best poker player. The Battle of the Mags champion will be decided at a live final to be held in London.
Designed to attract players who are serious about poker, Head of Communications Paddy Power is expecting a high quality field. "Battle of the Mags is a poker tournament for real poker enthusiasts to pit their skills against each other. The readers of these magazines are well educated in poker strategy and it will take a truly great player to win their online tournament and then defeat the best of the best at the live eight handed final table."

Each magazine will host an online tournament on >Paddy Power Poker exclusive to its readers. The freerolls are exclusive to the readers of each magazine and players wishing to participate in Battle of the Mags must obtain their passwords for entry in the respective magazines.
Competition details are as follows:
- $5000 exclusive freeroll for each of the 8 competing magazines
- Online freerolls will take place on Paddy Power Poker. To participate players must set up a Paddy Power Poker account.
- There will be regular cash payouts for each freerolls
- The winner of each freeroll will represent their magazine at the Live Grand Final to be held in London
- 8 participants at the Live Grand Final
- Freerolls will take place from July to September.
- Winner of the Grand Final will win entry into 4 major poker tournaments worth approx $28,000

Irish Poker Open Survey
Paddy Power Poker today announced the results from the official
Irish Open 2007 Survey. The questionnaire, which was sent out to over 300 players who attended the event, produced some interesting results.
The most concerning statistic to emerge was that nearly one in five players claimed to have met a leprechaun at the Irish Open. The data is unclear as to whether this due to too much time spent at the bar.
Head of Communications, Paddy Power was incredulous, "I saw lots of funny looking Irishmen chasing a crock of gold but I didn't see any leprechauns! In fact, if anyone can deliver a real leprechaun to us before the end of the year I'll personally buy them, and the leprechaun, in to the Irish Open 2008."
When asked how they got knocked out of the tournament 56% claimed to have succumbed to a bad beat while 13% said they were rivered. However, 31% of players were honest enough to admit they were caught bluffing.
Overall the event was extremely well received with 91% of respondents rating their experience of the Irish Open as "Good" or "Excellent" and 95% expressed their desire to play again next year.
The venue was also a success with 91% of players finding it spacious and 95% happy with the look and feel of the event.
708 players registered for 3,500 euro Main Event making it the biggest poker tournament ever held in Europe.
