Phil Ivy
Phil Ivy is one of the most aggressive and successful young poker professionals out there. Born in New Jersey, the young Ivy felt an irresistible attraction towards the game of poker, starting with his early teenage years.
Famous for his ultra-aggressive style, and his intense stare-downs, Phil has quite a portfolio to show.
He has three WSOP bracelets won in a single year, a performance only equaled by
Phil Hellmuth and Ted Forrest. He was the first player to beat the famous Amarillo Slim in a heads up and the list continues.
All in all, he has 5 WSOP bracelets to boast. Besides the three won in 2003, in 7-Card Stud, S.H.O.E. and Stud Hi Lo events, he also has a PL Omaha win in 2000, and another PL Omaha bracelet won in 2005.
An ITM spot in the main event was never far out of his grasp either. He finished ITM three times in the main event, and no less than 26 times, everything taken into account. His highest WSOP main event finish was 10th, in 2003.
His WPT performances include 7 money finishes, and all 7 times he reached the final table. (never won though). He's no stranger from the EPT either, where he scored a second-place finish in September 2006, in Barcelona.
Other tournament capers of his are: victory in the $1,000,000 Monte Carlo Millions event, victory in the FullTiltPoker.net invitational (just a day later). In that one, he beat some notorious opponents like Chris Ferguson,
Mike Matusow and
Gus Hansen.
His tournament winnings exceed $7,800,000 which is pretty impressive, no matter how you turn it around. It'll look much more impressive however, in light of the fact that he is not even primarily a tournament player.
Cash games are his thing now, and he is a regular presence at some of the world's biggest, richest and most notorious cash games.
He plays in the Bellagio $4,000/8,000, and he has won over 16 million dollars from Texas billionaire Andy Beal in a $50K/100K NL game (he was playing for "The Corporation" back then).
He is a
Team Full Tilt member, and if you're lucky, you can catch him at one of the high limits/stakes tables playing poker online.
