What is Poker Rake Back?
The way online poker rooms make profit is by raking the games. This means they charge a fee on every pot. The rake is mostly a percentage of the pot up to a maximum amount, usually 5% or max $3. The rake is taken in intervals of $0.25 or $0.50. The same goes for tournaments where a fixed amount is added to the entry fee, eg. Buy in is $30 + $3 ($3 is what the house takes for arranging the tournament). The standard for tournament fees is around 10% of the cost of entering the tournament. You can imagine that when poker players play hundreds and thousands of hands a massive rake contribution begins to add up.
